Our Commitment to Sustainable Tourism
Transalp Riders tours have both a direct and indirect impact on the quality of life and the well being of people and the environment. In our operations, we want to strike the right balance between people, planet and profit. Our bottom line is to operate in socially responsible, environmentally sound, and economically viable ways.
Transalp Riders is well positioned to live up to this sustainability commitment.
- We limit the number of clients on each trip to 14 riders, who will - on any typical day - split up into 2 groups of 7 each.
- Our tour routing and operational practices are constantly reviewed and fine-tuned by the company owner, a former academic with doctoral credentials on the management of impacts from recreation in mountain parks.
- Our business partners are foremost small-scale, locally owned operators and have often been selected on the basis of recognized accreditations for sustainable business practices or their production and use of organic products.
- We take advantage of Europe's expedient public transportation to get to and from our destinations at the beginning and end of each trip.
- We pass on 2% of our annual profit as cash or in-kind donations to cultural preservation and nature conservation projects along the many routes we travel.
- Our tour prices reflect decent and fair value where neither clients, nor guides or operators are short-changed. We recognize that the success and long-term existence of Transalp Riders eK ultimately depends on the satisfaction and goodwill of all of our supporters; whether they are our customers, trip leaders or business partners.
