Insurance Matters
Things usually go awry at the worst time imaginable – and vacations are no exception to that rule! The odds are relatively small that you may come to harm on your travels but by nature of the activities and lifestyles we enjoy, there are undeniable, inherent risks you have to assume. If luck runs out, travel insurance can save the day (or your future).
The cost of these insurances is typically a fairly minor component of your overall vacation budget and any reputable travel agent in your area should be able to assist you in choosing the level of protection you require.
For peace of mind, we strongly encourage you to take out appropriate coverage in form of the following travel insurances, which are not included in our tour packages:
- Medical / accident insurance
(please mention that you will participate in a guided mountain bike tour in Europe and ensure that evacuation and rescue coverage is included)
Keep in mind that an umbrella policy from a reputable insurance agency is often considerably less expensive than taking out individual policies through different underwriters. You may also want to check if your credit card(s) provide(s) the recommended insurance coverage as part of their service package.
If you are altogether unable to find a suitable insurance provider, TRANSALP RIDERS can arrange for coverage using European underwriters at very reasonable premiums. Keep in mind that in case of a claim, an overseas underwriter will pay expenses only in accordance with European fee scales (where medical services are typically less expensive than in countries, such as the U.S.). But in the unfortunate event that you may require insurance assistance, it might also be easier for you to deal with an underwriter in your mother tongue and in your home country.

At the time of your tour reservation, you will automatically receive an insolvency insurance certificate to provide you with peace of mind.
