Chamonix
Chamonix is the recognized world capital of ‘steep and deep’ with countless opportunities for spectacular and mind-boggling descents – most of them needing expert guide knowledge. The 14-mile glacier run down the crevassed Vallee Blanche from the Aiguille du Midi, the sickeningly steep lines at Brevent-Flegère and the enormous vertical at Les Grands Montets account for the area’s larger-than-life reputation.
A visit to celebrated Chamonix opens the mind to new and bigger dimensions and would seem an absolute must for any inductee to European big-mountain skiing – with a qualified guide.
